International crisis groups or conflict resolution groups as they are sometimes called, seek to contribute to the resolution of international conflicts in a peaceful non-violent way. These organizations often provide support and training for those wanting to resolve conflict peacefully. They also produce written works and multimedia materials in the hopes of presenting non-violent resolution ideas to policy makers to be incorporated into public policy. Below are a number of such organizations along with journals and publications that advocate non-violent international resolutions.
- International Crisis Group: organization dedicated to resolving deadly conflict
- Humanitarian Law Project: a NGO, non-governmental organization, that has been working with the United Nations since 1985 to help orchestrate peaceful conflict resolutions.
- American Friends Service Committee (AFSC) : New York-based quaker organization works with other religious and ethnic groups for the peaceful reconciliation of conflict
- Association for Non-Violence: promotes human rights activities and non-violent conflict resolution in Cameroon.
- Berghof Research Center For Constructive Conflict: provides training and services to NGOs that deal with ethnic and political conflicts.
- Center For Applied Studies In International Negotiations (CASIN): training program for conflict resolution
- Center for International Cooperation: combines environmental and peace education to create projects such as the Children’s Peace Garden Project for peaceful conflict resolution.
- Center For International Strategy, Technology, and Policy(CISTP) : hosts conferences, conducts research, and works with businesses, governmental and academic institutions to create policy recommendations for a number of international issues.
- Center For Preventative Action (CPA): as part of the Council of Foreign Relations, CPA studies and tests conflict resolution to verify whether the strategies are effective
- Center For Strategic and International Studies - Program On Preventative Diplomacy (CSIS): provides conflict resolution training for clergy and lay representatives in the Serbian Orthodox Church, the Roman Catholic Church, the Muslim community, the Jewish community, and various Protestant churches in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, and Croatia. Special emphasis is placed on the common spiritual values between the religions.
- Center For War, Peace, and the News Media: examines the role that the media can play in de-escalating conflict through its Media and Conflict Program
- Center of Concern: uses social analysis and policy to advocate for the peaceful conflict resolution in the Horn of Africa.
- Center for Conflict Resolution (CENCOR): advocates for peaceful conflict resolution in West Africa
- Center for Human Environment: runs the Kampala NGO initiative which uses more than 30 indigenous African NGOs to conduct grassroots level. training, mediation, diplomacy and other peace-making activities in Rwanda and Somalia
- Communications Decisions Results Associates (CDR): hosts training seminars in conflict resolution and diplomacy to organizations and individuals in North America and abroad.
- Conflict Management Group (CMG): an international nonpartisan nonprofit organization that provides negotiator training, consulting, diagnostic research, process design, conflict analysis, facilitation, consensus-building, and mediation services.
- Conflict Management Initiatives: since 1990, CMI has been encouraging the use of mediation and negotiation for conflict resolution among African countries
- Peace Science Society: affiliated with the University of Pennsylvania and encourages the development of peace analysis and conflict management
- The Carter Center: a non-partisan non-governmental agency that uses conflict resolution methods to promote peace through its Conflict Resolution Program.
- Center for International Conflict Resolution: non-partisan non-governmental organization conducts research and offers support for non-violent conflict resolution
- Economists of Peace and Security: an organization of international economists, citizens, and scientists concerned about peace, conflict, war and the economy
- United States Institute of Peace: non-partisan independent center created by US Congress to mitigate international conflict without the use of violence.
- Conflict Resolution Center International: provides information and support for those resolving international conflict. It also holds an extensive library of materials on conflict resolution, and maintains a database on conflict trainers, resolvers, and researchers around the world.
