Profiling Focus Features

Focus Features is an art house film studio affiliated with Universal Pictures, a division of NBC Universal, Inc. It finances, produces and distributes films worldwide. From 2004 to 2009, it produced and distributed action, comedy, thriller and suspense films under the label Rogue Pictures.

Focus Features was founded in 2002, with the merger of the independent film production company Good Machine and USA Films. Focus Features earns a rumored $50-60 million per year in box office revenues. It is among very few art house film studios affiliated with a major studio. The studio consistently earns a healthy profit and can be counted upon to produce high-quality, high-grossing, award-winning films.

Major films from Focus Features include Brokeback Mountain, Burn After Reading, The Pianist, Coraline and Lost in Translation. Films that did not do so well include The Ground Truth, The Guys and Rory O’Shea Was Here.
